Firstly, thank you to all who watched the 11th Squirrel Session last Thursday. If you missed it, you can watch below:
This is the last Squirrel Session for a while because I have decided to pause the performances during September to allow Alex and I to focus more on the album as it’s nearly ready (about to start mixing).
However, I am making an exception for one afternoon on Sunday 6th September to play Jelli Fest Online. My ‘stage’ time is 3pm and will only be available to view on the Jelli Fest Facebook group. Cost of admission is £1 or more at their donation page.
As he did last week, Alex will be joining me on ukulele and harmonies so it will be great to have some company for a change! I’d be delighted to have you join me and please do check out the other artists involved if you can spare the time.
First of all, thanks to everyone who watched the Squirrel Session just now – it was so lovely to see some familiar names!
Secondly, I must apologise for the session being cut off during my penultimate song, The Plooman Laddies. I think the recent adverse local weather has been interfering with my broadband connection all day today and my connection just dropped with no warning. Very annoying, but completely out of my control unfortunately.
That said, I hope you enjoyed what you heard and I can’t wait to play for you all again on the 27th August – in full next time!
Just a quick update to mention that I received my second play on Dave Gilyeat’s wonderful local show BBC Introducing in Oxford over the weekend.
I sent him a rough cut of new recording ‘Da Fetlar Lullaby’ which he played towards the end of the show at 45 minutes in. The finished version will feature on the new album so this is a nice sneak preview!
In case you’re reading this after the linked show has expired, I’ve also placed a recording of it on my Soundcloud channel below. Enjoy!
I hope you enjoyed Squirrel Session #5 on Wednesday night. I loved it and definitely felt like one of my best yet. We’ve since experimented further with the technical set up and hope to be even better for the next one which brings me to….
The 6th Squirrel Session will be back on Thursday 18th June, 7 – 7.30pm as usual. This can be accessed as usual through the player below:
I hope the slight relaxing of lockdown rules has been positive for you so far. One thing that isn’t changing any time soon is my bi-weekly Squirrel Session so this is just a short note to remind you that it’s happening this Wednesday (not Thursday as usual) from 7 – 7.30pm.
